Sunday's Showcase: Springing into Spring

Hello Divamoms & Divas,

I'm ashamed to admit I did pretty much nothing during spring break besides keep my bed and couch company. I truly meant to blog and catch up on the blogs I follow but that just didn't happen. I'm still putting together a goodie bag for a spring giveaway to share with my readers my new addiction to nail polish so stay tuned. 

We are headed into FCAT testing crunch time. 14 days to go so my life is about to become a whirlwind of final test preparation madness. Pray for the State of Florida and our students. It is a stressful time for all. What motivates me more is I know my students will do well. I'm a believer that if you are a good reader you can navigate any reading assessment. 

My other motivation is the beautiful weather we've been experiencing here in South Florida. I wish I could share it with you. If you follow my Twitter account you probably saw my tweets from Friday and Saturday. I spent the day on the beach. Let me tell you it was the absolute perfect end to spring break and a memorable time with my kiHe'll 13 in 3 months and I'm trying to get it in before he starts choosing his friends over me (sniffs).

I've decided to add a Sunday's Showcase segment where I share with you my church attire. I really don't get out much. School, church and home so most of my photos are taken after work or church on Sunday. I figure on two things can happen...you'll like it or not and/or someone will figure out what's church appropriate. 

So for the first one I've remixed a great thrifted find seen here. And thanks Emily for taking my photos after service today. I asked her to quietly sneak out of the youth class so we could grab the spot before Bishop dismissed and took these with my cell phone (so excuse the quality).

I Paid Less at Payless

This past summer I saw these Steven Madden platform sandals everywhere and loved them but felt as though I had too many pairs of shoes (yes, I try to trick myself into believing that sometimes) and far to many pairs of black shoes (is that even possible?).

Sunday I was drawn to Payless by an extremely strong force that wouldn't let me go. I think we call it the shopping bug :) I was hoping to find some cute patterned open toed flats. Don't pass out on me. I'm trying to branch out and try something new in the shoe department. Plus there are some "high end" designers creating more affordable lines for the everyday woman.  


Lela Rose, Isabel Toledo and Christian Siriano (I almost purchased this handbag) have created designer collections for the store which have been great but I've never been able to get my hands on anything I had my eye on. Dad right? Truth is I think they send the good stuff to the stores located in the wealthier neighborhoods. 


To make up for my past misfortune my personal shoe fairy allowed me to stumble upon these beauties by Brash. I didn't give this purchase a second thought, I grabbed them and raced to the counter. They are totally cute and comfy. I've already planned two outfits for work around them. #seriously Y'all know I'm a divamom on a dime budget!

I'm wondering if folks are shocked that I shop at Payless. Are you? If you follow my tweets I shared a pair of polka dot blue and pink shoes that are super oldies but still trendy that I purchased many years ago from the Shoesource.  One thing 've learned is spending more doesn't make the item great. Yes, blogging helped me with this. The point is I'm going to rock these hard and even give away a pair of shoes from my closet to make room for them.  I am so not a hoarder (wink).

What do you think of this purchase?  Can a woman have too many pairs of black shoes?

Sassy Woman for a Day

I am always tweeting and writing here about the wonderful people I meet online. Ashley creator of A Sassy Woman is one blogger that I'm truly happy to have not only met online but in person. Although we've only had the opportunity to get together twice it hasn't felt strained. Her warm spirit makes you comfortable like old friends so when she asked me to help her out while she enjoys her spring break I happily agreed to write a guest post for the Florida's Finest Guest Blogging Series.

Pants

No this post isn’t deep or though provoking (sorry if you were looking to be stirred in such a way that Kleenex was needed, lolol). But I’m sure you guessed that from the title J. I don’t have much to say since I’m truly brain tired. FCAT crunch time has me exhausted. I go hard daily working with my students to prepare them for the test by reviewing any areas of weakness week 

to week to week and I tutor 6^th graders Monday through Thursday.

I don’t usually wear pants/slacks but these were too beautiful to pass up at the local thrift store. I can’t recall how much I paid for for them but I can assure you they were less than 5 – 10$. I wish you could really see the fabric. There are tiny flecks of shimmer which makes them kinda itchy (or at least that’s what I think). The brand is Attention. I’ve usually seen this brand at local K-mart. So I paired it with a sheer pussy-bow tie top from Target, my Steve Madden black patent heels, clutch from New York and Co and random accessories. Hope you like J.

Can you tell my hair is growing? The hair journey has been filled with highs, lows and moments of uncertainty but I'm still at it. Lately I’ve also been obsessed with nail polishes. The past three weekends I’ve been treating myself to an at home spa night. Relaxing in bubbles, reading magazines and then topping it off with a do it myself mani and pedi. This only means one thing. I need to share the love and give away some polish. Stay tuned for an upcoming giveaway.
